For young people aged 7 - 18

About me

My name is Rosey and I am passionate about unlocking the potential which is in every child. My goal is not to tell your child what to do or provide them with solutions to a problem; rather it is to aid their maturity, decisiveness and strength of character so that they are able to solve problems independently.

I am in my eighth year of teaching and in that time I have worked in a mainstream primary school, an all-through school for children with special educational needs and I am currently working part time in an independent school for girls.  My journey into education really began in 2012, when I worked with a charity for homeless youth.  As part of this role, I was involved with training the young people in our care, equipping them with life skills and qualifications to help them to lead independent lives by gaining employment and supporting them to find homes of their own so they could move out of the shelters they were in.  That satisfaction of knowing that I had helped make a better future for these young people led me to training as a primary school teacher.

As part of my teaching career, I have been fortunate enough to help young people with their emotional and social development, through the use of various strategies, including mindfulness journaling and developing a growth mindset.  In my personal life, I have suffered loss, which has taught me much about resilience and the importance of a growth mindset, skills which I want to pass on to the children I work with.

In our modern-day society, children are under ever-increasing pressure from a very young age, which leads to the development of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.  As someone who is passionate about providing children with strategies to prevent this, I have completed ‘.paws’ and ‘.begin’ training with the Mindfulness in Schools Project and Mental Health Champions training with Place2Be, and regularly employ these techniques within my classroom.

Elevate. Evolve. Empower. These are my main aims when working with your child.  My goal is to support your child to become resilient, confident and secure.  I treat each child with the same respect as I would an adult, and this allows me to connect with and develop a trusting relationship with a child quickly.  Each child is an individual, and so my approach to supporting them is highly individualised.  There is often more than one solution to a problem and my aim is to show your child this.  I am passionate about watching a child grow and become happier, stronger and more relaxed as they learn strategies and skills to help them make positive changes to their own lives.
